What are the minimum qualifications to skipper a boat?
For our larger yachts you must have as a minimum a RYA Coastal Skipper qualification or have equivalent experience and at least one other person on the boat should have the equivalent amount of experience and knowledge of a RYA Competent Crew certificate holder.
For our smaller yachts you need to hold a RYA Day Skipper Practical certificate and have and at least 200nm skippering experience in tidal waters, ideally in the Solent. Again someone else on board must have the equivalent amount of experience and knowledge of a RYA Competent Crew certificate holder.

How much is the Security deposit and how do I pay?
The security deposit is £1500 unless you are racing and then it is £3000
This can either be paid by bank transfer to our account or if you have a UK credit card we can do an authorisation for the £1500.
Once we are happy the boat is returned with no damage and any extra costs such as fuel have been paid for, we will refund the money or cancel the authorisation.
Is fuel included?
No – you need to refuel on your way back to the marina or we will charge you £4 per engine hour used.
What clothing do I need to bring?
Warm and waterproof clothing along with warm soft soled shoes.
No loose sleeves or ties as they can get caught in winches.
How do I pay?
Bank transfer is simplest or debit card.
We do accept all major credit cards but there will be a 2% charge on top if you choose this method.
Is there parking?
Yes we have free parking in Shamrock Quay but it is controlled, so on arrival you will need to go to the marina office with documentary evidence of your charter and they will add your registration number to their system.
If you are due to arrive after the marina office is closed please email them in advance with your registration details and a copy of your charter agreement.
Failure to do so will incur charges.
Do I need Insurance?
The yachts are insured but you are advised to have holiday insurance to cover medical or lost luggage etc.
What cleaning materials are provided?
We supply washing up liquid, toilet gel, antibacterial spray and gumption along with dish cloths and scourers.
Are loo rolls provided?
Yes we have loo roll and 1 spare.
