The Social Distancing Holiday

Get Away from it all in 2020

With the global pandemic affecting international travel plans, a UK bareboat yacht charter with FirstAway Yacht Charters could provide a safe and enjoyable answer to your holiday blues. Allow you and your crew; quality time along the beautiful Southcoast of England - the perfect way to stay socially distanced.

This year chartering may be one of the best holiday options. It can be private affair. If you bring adequate supplies, your time onboard is enjoyed interacting with your crew (who we’ll assume you want to spend time with!)

A huge amount of pleasure can be derived from chartering a sailing yacht and skippering it yourself. There is so much to see and do and in addition to a Solent charter, the Channel Islands, Poole, Weymouth and beyond to the West Country are all doable if weather and time permit offering opportunities to visit lots of different and interesting places within a weekend or a week.

Far and Away the Best

FirstAway Charters have always ensured exacting standards of cleanliness! Our yachts are certainly ship-shape! We have a small cleaning team so you can be assured that our high standards are maintained at all times and that we can monitor staff health closely, giving you total peace of mind and confidence.

Charter with FirstAway

To charter a bareboat yacht, you must have done a reasonable amount of sailing before and at least one other person on the boat should have the equivalent amount of experience and knowledge of an RYA Competent Crew certificate holder. To charter one of our larger yachts, you must have as a minimum an RYA Coastal Skipper qualification or have equivalent sailing experience on a similar sized yacht.

For our smaller yachts you need to hold an RYA Day Skipper Practical certificate or above and have skippered for at least 200nm on a sailing yacht in tidal waters, ideally in the Solent.

If you are would like to discuss your sailing to date and suitability to charter a yacht then please do call and if you don’t quite have the qualifications or experience required then you could consider a skippered charter or taking an RYA course with our parent Company First Class Sailing .

FCS offers the full range of sailing courses, both practical and theory courses including 1-day courses for VHF.

If you have any questions or need more information contact us at First Away Charter, we’ll be more than happy to help. Yachts available for bareboat charter are here.
